  WARN Quick-Connect & ViAIR 400p Compressor

One of the guys I've gone wheeling with has a WARN Multi-Mount winch for his H2.  He has WARN quick connects front and back for powering the winch.  Well he also had the idea to modify his portable compressor so he could plug it into his quick connect.  Hummer Solutions put together a package that would utilize this setup.

I wanted to mount the quick connect behind the grill and have it accessible through one of the slots.  This would partially hide the connector and help protect it from damage.

I removed the brushguard and grill  so I could  mount the connector.

The existing battery terminals do not allow for adding accessories and the quick-connect needs to be connected directly to the battery.

This was the perfect excuse to upgrade to heavy-duty terminals with built in accessory posts.  This will make it easier to add more stuff in the future.

With a little bit of ghetto engineering I was able to fab up a mount for the connector.  I primed and painted it so it would blend in a little better.  Then I mounted it to the center bracket for the hood release.

The connector is mounted vertically to allow access through the slotted grill.  The black cover is a dust guard that comes with the kit.  The cables are routed around the radiator and through the engine compartment to the battery.

I added new ring connectors to all the existing power leads and connected everything to the new terminals.  The WARN kit has the ring connectors already installed.

With everything put back together you can see how easy it is to plug in the compressor.  No need to even open the hood.  The kit from Hummer Solutions included an adapter for the compressor so you can still connect it directly to the battery if you are using it on another vehicle.

REVIEW:

While the quick-connect isn't necessary for this setup, it will make airing up on the trail just that much easier.  Plus there are other accessories from WARN, such as jumper cables, that utilize the quick-connectors.

The ViAIR 400p compressor works very well.  It comes with a 25' hose with inline pressure gauge, the adapter I mentioned before, and a very nice canvas carrying case.  It fills up my 33" tires from 15-35PSI in about 3 minutes.  It is pretty quiet and doesn't "walk around" at all while operating.
